Centralised Admissions

 

Admission to the Rainbow Centre Schools are through Centralised Admissions.

 

From July 2018, Rainbow Centre Schools will operate from 3 campuses:

 

Margaret Drive School (For Children with ASD and Multiple Disabilities)

Yishun Park School (For Children with ASD and Multiple Disabilities)

Yishun Park School (Woodlands)* (For Children with ASD)

 

A place in one of the Rainbow Centre Schools will be offered to eligible applicants based on the:

 

(a)   admissions assessment

(b)   residential address of the applicant in relation to the catchment area of the campuses

(c)   availability of places in each of the campuses.

 

*YPS (Woodlands) will operate from its interim site at 11 Marsiling Lane, Singapore 739148 from July 2018. It will subsequently move into its purpose-built campus in the Sembawang area.

 

 

Admission Eligibility

 

Rainbow Centre Schools serve children and youths between 7-18 years old, with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Multiple Disabilities.

 

  • Admission priority is given to Singapore Citizens at all phases of admission.
  • In addition, during Phase 1, Singapore Citizens who are students of the Rainbow Centre Early Intervention Programme (RCEIP) are given priority.
  • Children who are Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR) and International Students (IS) will be considered for admission in Phase 3.
  • SPR will be given priority in admission over IS.
  • SPR and IS students of the Rainbow Centre Early Intervention Programme (RCEIP) will be given priority, over SPR and IS applicants who are not.

 

Under the Compulsory Education Act, all Singapore Citizens born on or after 2 January 2012, with special education needs and eligible for entry into Primary 1 in 2019 onwards are to enroll in and regularly attend government-funded SPED schools. Parents must seek exemption if they want their child to be placed outside the national school system.

 

Junior 1 Admissions (For children turning 7 years old the following year)

 

Applications to start school in the following year are open for all phases from 1 February. Applications must be received by Rainbow Centre by 15 September, for the child to start school in the first week of January the following year. Applications received after 15 September will be processed to start school after first week of January.

Admissions for all levels (Except Junior 1)

 

Admissions for students applying for places in levels other than Junior 1 (7 years old) are on an on-going basis. Applications are accepted throughout the year, as per the process above.

 


How to Apply

All applications must be made on MOE’s Common SPED School Application Form, accompanied by the relevant supporting documents, to be considered received for processing. The application form can be obtained from:

Application submission and enquiries can be made Mondays to Fridays, 8.30am to 5.00pm (excluding public holidays).

Application outcomes are released according to the admission phase for which the child qualifies.
