This painting of a serene fishing village was inspired by old photographs of a similar scene in Kallang. Notice the two fishermen rowing on the quiet waters, looking for their catch of the day that can be sold to feed the family. Houses on stilts are a rare sight in Singapore today but many of the older generation remember living and fishing in these kelongs.
