Volunteer FAQ
01 – How do I sign up as a volunteer?
Please click here to view the current available opportunities and register online. Our team will contact you within 10 working days for a suitable placement.
02 – What is the criteria to be a volunteer?
Volunteers have to be at least 15 years old, while parental consent is required for those under 18 years old. Passion and enthusiasm are a big plus. We screen all new volunteers carefully to ensure an optimum experience for you and our clients.
03 – Will training be provided?
Our learning model for volunteers includes educating volunteers through online training and digital content, with volunteers partaking in authentic experiences on campus or in community. You will also be invited to attend relevant modules by Rainbow Centre Training & Consultancy to deepen your understanding and confidence to work with our clients.
04 – Is there any insurance coverage for volunteers?
Yes, group accident insurance coverage is provided for all volunteers. Rainbow Centre also has various risk management assessments in place which aim to support volunteers to the best of our abilities.
05 – What is the level of commitment expected for volunteers?
Our volunteers are a precious community asset who enable our clients to practise communication and connect with the general public. Volunteers take on a variety of roles, from school-based Student Befrienders who serve children across the early intervention and special education programmes, Good Life Befrienders, who befriend young adults aged 18 and above in the community, as well as other roles like a Travel Buddy and assisting in sports or outdoor education.
Regardless of your role at Rainbow Centre, we highly encourage you to commit at least 10 weeks (or a school term) to build rapport with our clients.
