Rajendran Thilak Laxman (14, Rainbow Centre Yishun Park School)
Thanks to conservation, shophouses built between the 1840s to 1960s are still a part of modern city life. Rajendran’s take on this important piece of Singapore’s architectural history is a colourful one. He faithfully captures some delicate details, such as the French windows and ventilation holes. Such shops sold used to sell everything from from coffins to dried goods to furniture. The connecting streets bustled with an eclectic mix of sights and smells.
